Excalibur Dehydrator

A Facebook pal (and my punk photo customer) asked what Dehydrator I used. Here’s my response:
Excalibur, THE one the raw foodies use. Has thermometer, keep around 108-110, then lower when at bedtime so it won’t over dry. There’s a 4 or 9 shelf.

GREAT to warm food, so you can make soups, or warm your veggies or whatever. So yummy, es…p during cool weather.

9 shelf is so big the trays wouldn’t fit into my sink to wash them. Took up too much space on my kitchen table.

Even 4 trays are big, but that’s cos my apt sink tiny. PERFECT for ONE person to make a load of food!

I dry bananas, okra, tomatoes, herbs, getting into trying other veggies. Secret is to slice bananas and tomatoes really thin. Drain tomato juice and seeds (use in salads instead). I’ve dried fruit, but I eat them fresh too quickly! BUT dried persimmon, peach, nectarines, apples are sooooo good. But it takes A LOT of fruit to make a good pile of dried ones. Bananas are cheap. but they stick to the trays!

Get Teflex to put on top of the mesh layer.

AMAZING to pull nice warm fruit or veggies out. Melts in your mouth. We OVERHEAT food all the time! Try it closer to body temp. Yummy! But it takes some time, as does any really health, great tasting food!
